My wife Cyndi and I moved to Platte City in 2004 and soon after were
expecting our second child. Shortly after our son was born, we began
looking for a church home. We started visiting churches near our
home, but none of them felt "right" for us. We slowly widened
our scope and still hadn't found it. We finally were led to Vineyard,
and immediately felt that we had found what we were looking for.
Our biggest concern was how to get plugged into a church of this
size. Well, getting plugged in was not a problem. Shortly after we
attended Vineyard 101, we began volunteering in the KOTV check-im.
We have since found a small group, Cyndi heads up the Meals Ministry,
and our entire family is active in AWANA. The message and ministry
of this church and its pastoral staff has been blessing our walk
with Christ since the first day we walked through the doors. We are
home!
Rocky Trader - I’ve been attending Vineyard for 12 years now.
The first time I walked through the doors of Lakeview Middle School,
I knew that my life was about to change. God touched my heart and
my life immediately! The love that I felt flowing through those
people was so warm and welcoming. It was like something I had never
experienced before. They didn’t care what my background was
and neither did their God. I deeply wanted to know this God who
loved me so much. I’m thankful God led me to Vineyard. I
am still growing at a Christian…it is a daily walk.
Vineyard Church is a big part of my identity in Christ! I know that if
I miss a service, I miss out on so much that I need for myself to make it through
the rest of the week! I know that no matter how I am feeling, I will be greeted
and surrounded by people who love me and care about me and are full of encouragement.
God has a way of speaking to me through the service and especially during the
worship time. There’s something about gathering together with a group where
everyone is singing and crying out to God that just blesses me personally and
truly touches my heart. Vineyard is part of my family!
Jeremy Eccles - My wife, Harmony, and I found Vineyard Kansas City North about two years ago
when we were looking for a church in our community. The main things we were looking
for were (in order): a program that our kids enjoyed and looked forward to every
week, solid teaching, and a place where we saw potential for growth. We essentially
let our kids do the choosing and they loved this church. Little did we know how
much our own lives would be changed as a result of our engagement here. During
the past two years God has used many people in the Vineyard to minister to us
and be integral participants in altering the course our lives. It seems like
everyone from friends that we sit next to all the way to the senior pastoral
staff have been involved. Harmony and I have watched as God began with asking
us to be open to the fullness that he had for us and then moved us through amazing
experiences within small groups, bible studies, and classes such as "Learning
to Minister Like Jesus" and "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire." I
am in awe of his gentle yet persistent way of working through believers functioning
in a community to transform lives. The person I am today is not the same person
I was two years ago in regard to my relationship with Jesus, the practical things
that motivate my decisions on a daily basis, and the long-term goals that I am
living for. Harmony and I were already committed christians when we joined this
church body, but we have grown and deepened in our relationships with God, each
other, and everyone around us in ways that I completely did not expect.
The last two years have truly changed our lives, and I am happy to
say that God worked through the community of Vineyard Kansas City North
to make the changes happen.
Gina Hanna -
I started attending Vineyard Church a little over six year ago. I
grew up in church, but attended one that portrayed Christianity as a
set of rules that you had to follow. I couldn’t keep up with
all the rules so I quit for a long time. I wound up in an addiction
to pot. I struggled with the idea of going back to church
when my life was such a mess. I thought for sure they would kick
me out as soon as they found out. Vineyard is a grace filled church. “Come
as you are” isn’t just referring to the dress code.
Through the ministries and classes at Vineyard, I was healed of my hurts and
set free from my addiction. Pastor Fred has created a culture of growing
leaders and ministries, “Every Member a Minister.” God has
used this church to redeem my past and birth the Beauty for Ashes ministry that
my husband, Derk, and I lead. Our team does monthly outreach events with
the homeless and the incarcerated. We are finding that one of the reasons
that God has called us to minister “to the least of these,” is because
that is where we find ourselves.
