How to Lead a Great Small Group!
Here are the types of groups we
currently have at Vineyard Church:
Small Groups
A small group is a group of about 6-15 people who do life together.
They laugh have fun together, learn from God’s Word, pray for
each other, love one another, support & encourage each other,
watch movies and eat popcorn together, worship, and
generally do life together. Through Small Groups we develop meaningful
and vital relationships with others as we try to become a living
example of the “body
of Christ.”
Common-Interest Groups
If you have an interest in something and want to use it to reach
people who wouldn't normally come to church, we'd love to have
you start a common interest group! Maybe you like to ride bikes,
or drive motorcycles, or play a sport. Maybe you quilt or bowl
or play board games. We'd love to have you start such a group
at Vineyard Church! These groups are gateways for people coming
back to Christ!
Discipleship Groups
A discipleship group is a group of 3-5 men or women who covenant together to (1) meet together weekly for up to a year for the purpose of accelerated spiritual growth, (2) complete scripture readings, answer questions, and memorize a short scripture before each week's meeting, (3) be transparent and willing to be held accountable for spiritual growth by the other group members, and (4) give serious consideration to continuing the discipling chain by investing in 2 to 4 others in the year following completion of the group.
Classes
A class may involve studying a particular book of the Bible, learning the spiritual disciplines, going through a christian book together, or anything else. A class is a short term group designed to teach you a particular subject matter. Let us know if you're interested in teaching something at Vineyard Church! We have a whole library of materials to choose from, and if we don't have it, we can probably order it!
Ministries
Ministry is the use of a person's gifts and talents, time and
energy, in the service of the Kingdom of God. Here are some examples
of ministries: computer repair, home repair, local
moving, prayer quilts, various support groups, DivorceCare,
GriefShare, special needs, elderly, prison, homeless, teen moms,
etc. If you have a passion for ministering to people in some
way, let us know and we'll help you get started.
Mentoring
One of the best ways to grow as a disciple of Christ is with the help of a mentor. If you would like help finding a mentor at Vineyard Church or if you are interested in serving as a mentor, please contact our small group pastor, Roger Sodsod, and let him know of your interest in mentoring.
What is the training process?
We want to do the best we can to ensure you are well-trained and feel prepared to lead whatever God is calling you to lead. At the same time, we know most people have busy lives with their jobs, families, and other commitments. These are the classes we ask new leaders to take, however we are willing to work with you and your schedule.
